Roman Ruins at Ulpiana 2005

The ruins of Ulpiana lie a few kilometers from Pristina. Ulpiana was a large city in Roman times.

We found the ruins after a hike on a road that was impassable by car and through muddy cornfields.

My Albanian driver is on the right. The Serb gentleman on the left was walking along the road in a village nearby. He got into the car with us and agreed to guide us to the ruins. Without his help, we never would have found Ulpiana. The two communicated very cordially throughout our trip.
